How to migrate your course content

We recommend that you follow the steps for migrating your course content as described in the video and text below. You can also use the checklist when migrating your course. Note that your empty course should already be available in Brightspace, so only the content must be migrated.

First log into Brightspace, and orientate yourself. Use your personal sandbox to practice using the system. Your sandbox course is a Brightspace course page that only you have access to. Use it for experimenting – no students have access to it.
The general process for migrating your existing course is to move the content you want to keep and reuse, and leave older content in Blackboard. Note that Blackboard is available in read-only archive mode for a few years, so you can come back later.
Think of it as a chance to make a clean start, simultaneously improving your course as you consider the need for all the course materials.
Drag and drop the reusable content files (such as lecture slides, readings, videos, assignment questions) into the desired modules and submodules wherever you want them in your course structure. It can go fairly quickly when dragging many files in one go, and you can rearrange them once they are in your course.
It is helpful to set up your gradebook before you add the activities which will be graded. In this way, when you come to add quizzes, assignments, discussion forums and other deliverables to your course site, you can quickly link these to your gradebook.
Improvements you can consider at this point at the use of paperless assignments, all the way from students uploading them, to where you and your teaching assistant team and co-instructors grade them, to returning the grades and feedback to the students.
